Call it a Mini-Convention or a Super Meeting, MHISC has a knack for putting together events that pack a lot of fun and information into a tidy day-and-a-half event.
The MHISC Annual Meeting and Convention moves to Columbia this year. It’ll be headquartered at the Hilton Hotel in the Vista, the vibrant new center for night-life in the Capitol City.
Wednesday night members will enjoy a reception and Pub Crawl through the Vista, enjoying a specialty beverage or other delicious treat at each stop.
Thursday morning starts with a full country breakfast followed by MHISC’s official Annual Meeting with VIP Speakers and expert reports on where the industry is going the next 12 months. Then on to the links for golf followed by a BBQ dinner.
Five of MHISC’s key committees will meet Wednesday afternoon on the 18th. The committees plan strategically, coming up with great ideas for the future of the industry and the association. These include the MHISC Dealer Roundtable; Membership Committee; Image and Professionalism Committee; SC Modular Steering Committee; and Community Managers Committee. (For information about serving on an MHISC committee, contact the association at Info@mhisc.com. )

Steve Bromley
All of us in the industry continue to admire Steve Bromley's courageous health battles and are so sorry to hear that the cancer has returned.
Steve was a great association member. He came to the industry from a high-tech background and joined in with John Johnson as a retailer in Beaufort. He and Gail opened their own retail center, a well-run, attractive location.
Steve became active in the Beaufort Chapter and joined the state MHISC board representing the area as Chapter President.
Fred Burbage is helping Steve and Gail coordinate visits and phone calls. You can contact Fred at 843-532-4332 or fburbage58@gmail.com. We all send Steve our prayers and support and appreciation for his friendship.

Fall Convention
Here's what's in the works for MHISC's October 20 State Meeting in Charleston:
Retail Center, Salesperson and Community of the Year
Members nominate and vote to select these honorees. Companies who go the extra mile deserve our Support and Recognition.
Al Randall Roast
In our survey Al Randall was overwhelmingly chosen as the person that MHISC members would be willing to insult. Three roasters are already signed up: Ronnie Cudd, Ronnie Boyce and Clarence Strickland.
After Party
Hear The Toters play the perfect party tunes Southerners love. Members will enjoy the rush of singing with a live band. You can even step in and play with the band—impress your friends! All it takes is a little bit of talent or a little bit of your favorite beverage.
Who are The Toters? The Toters are anchored by one of our own, “Bashing Bob” Tuttle from Dixie-George Jones Homes. The band possesses a mysterious past, as well as undeniable talent, appearing on the music scene previously as The Tie-Downs, The Ups, and the Shem Creek Boys.
You’ll enjoy some funky old soul, love their beach music and hear their classic rock favorites “I’m a Randall Man” and “I Love Those Old Time Mobile Homes.”
Committees
Earlier in the day, MHISC’s key committees will meet in the afternoon making decisions and moving projects forward that will benefit our industry. These key groups include the MHISC Dealer Roundtable, SC Modular Steering Committee, Community Manager’s Committee, Image and Professionalism Committee and Membership Committee. The MHISC Board of Directors will meet the next morning on the 21st.

Member of the Week
My MHISC Member of the Week is Shirley Shamblin.
Shirley sent a note of thanks when we sent out an updated version of our membership directory.
The directory is one of the basic services we provide our members but it's become quite a project. The MHISC Membership Directory is now provided on-line. The cool thing is we can--and do--update the directory every week.
We work on updating the database just about everyday. Tracking and verifying changes and putting them on the web is time-consuming but the info is much more useful than the old-style directory we mailed out every year.
It's great to see that members notice and appreciate the effort!

Grand Strand Meeting is Thursday, October 14
MHISC's newest chapter meets Thursday, October 14 at Beachwood at the Heritage. We'll be talking with legislators about the key issues members care about. A great chance to be sure that the people you vote for and elect know how you feel about issues impacting your business. The meeting will be at Beachwood at the Heritage.
